Bayfront Health Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda Names 2020 Employees of the Year
Charlotte County, FL (January 06, 2021) – Bayfront Health Port Charlotte and Bayfront Health Punta Gorda have announced their 2020 Employees of the Year. This award is the highest honor bestowed on a hospital employee each year. Employees are nominated for the award by their hospital peers based on their commitment to patient care, their professionalism, and their contributions on the job.
“We are fortunate to have such an amazing team across both of these Bayfront Health campuses,” says Tara McCoy, Chief Executive Officer for Bayfront Health Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda. “These six individuals were chosen by their colleagues and it is my pleasure to recognize them for their dedication to our patients and to providing outstanding care.”
Bayfront Health Port Charlotte Employee of the Year: Christina Milo, BSN, R.N., Nursery. Since May 2000, Christina has been well liked by her peers, patients and members of the medical staff. Her co-workers say: “She is a phenomenal nurse and role model, always willing to help out in all aspects to get the job done. She is the perfect example when it comes to providing excellent patient care.” Christina is currently pursuing her advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license.
Bayfront Health Port Charlotte Non-Clinical Leader of the Year: April Sowell, Director of Practice Management. April moved to Charlotte County and joined Bayfront in September 2019. During this time, she has distinguished herself as someone who cares deeply about ensuring all providers and staff have the full support and tools that they need to succeed. “She empowers others and works collaboratively with various departments.”
Bayfront Health Port Charlotte Clinical Leader of the Year: Janice Topliff, Director of Cath Lab. Janice has been a member of the cardiac team since November 2019. In this short time, she has truly created a first-class department through recruitment, retention and patient and physician satisfaction. Her staff know that Janice is there to help them succeed: “Janice is able to see what is needed for her department and makes it happen. We have a lot of respect for Janice; she has done a lot of great things for this program and the hospital overall.”
Bayfront Health Punta Gorda Employee of the Year: Teresa Dilena, BSN, RN, Manager of Cardiac Rehab. Teresa has been a valuable member of the Wellness & Rehab team since September 2006. When asking her coworkers what makes her exceptional, the response is that: “Teresa is very passionate about patient care and continuously strives to provide the best care whether in the inpatient or outpatient treatment settings. She has a great rapport with both her patients and members of the medical staff. A true mentor to her peers.”
Bayfront Health Punta Gorda Non-Clinical Leader of the Year: Lyam Agosto, Director of Wound Care. Since 2010, Lyam has been a leader both in the department and for the health system as a whole. Her coworkers agree that: “Lyam is always upbeat and a joy to work with. She leads by example and always knows how to keep things light, even in the most stressful situations.”
Bayfront Health Punta Gorda Clinical Leader of the Year: Lisa Lawrence, Director of PCU and ICU. Lisa rejoined the Bayfront Health family in July 2018 as Nursing Supervisor but was quickly promoted to Director of Nursing for ICU and PCU. She is seen as a strong leader who is always willing to jump in and lend a helping hand. “She consistently strives to find ways to improve the overall quality of patient care.” Lisa was just recently promoted to Director of Emergency Services at Bayfront Health Port Charlotte.
